Humble beginnings
March 1937
Three electric organizations from Carver, Le Sueur, and Scott counties - that did not have the support to make it on their own - were incorporated as The Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative.
Scott County growth
January 2000
Since the year 2000, Scott County, where MVEC is headquartered, has experienced a 45 percent growth.
Territory expansion
July 2015
MVEC acquires 3,500 customers from Alliant Energy's southern Minnesota service area, this includes all residents and businesses from the cities of Montgomery and Le Center.
Shakopee swap
November 2022
MVEC and the city of Shakopee swapped customers for members, with the co-op gaining a net 537 new services.
Today
MVEC provides reliable electric service to 47,000+ meters across a 968-square-mile service area, encompassing nine counties.
